Large-scale facilities can produce 10+ tons of hydrogen daily, though production costs remain at $4-6 per kilogram compared to $1-2 for grey hydrogen.

What Makes Green Hydrogen Different from Grey or Blue Hydrogen?

Grey hydrogen, which accounts for 95% of current production, uses natural gas reformation and emits 9-12 kg of CO₂ per kg of hydrogen produced. Blue hydrogen captures some emissions through carbon storage, achieving 60-90% reduction. Green hydrogen produces zero emissions at the point of production, making it the only truly carbon-neutral option when powered by renewables.

What Are the Benefits of Green Hydrogen?

Green hydrogen enables long-duration energy storage, decarbonizes steel and ammonia production, and powers fuel cell vehicles with zero tailpipe emissions. The International Energy Agency projects green hydrogen demand could reach 530 million tons annually by 2050, creating a $2.5 trillion market while eliminating billions of tons of CO₂ emissions.
